RHS Garden Wisley:

The Allotment Committee Secretary, Liz and myself, (Jeanette), drove to Wisley in late March to see about arranging a coach trip for Association Members in a few months time.

We were so lucky to get a beautiful, sunny day and the blossom was abundant on the trees by the entrance and in the grounds. Because it was quite early in the season, some of the grounds were cordoned off, so that staff could do pruning, spread mulches and generally prepare the gardens for later in the year, but there was still plenty to see, particularly the areas set up for wildlife including new, (to me), shallow ponds for newts, frogs, toads etc.

Here (below) are some examples, such as a 'green roof' on a shed and a piece of 'artwork' made from sweet chestnut, forming a Garden Tower with different materials used to create habitats for insects, birds and other wildlife.

This is just a taster of the wonderful gardens that are part of RHS Wisley and the Allotment Association would like to invite you to come along for a visit via a coach trip at a reduced rate for Association Members later in the year.
Jeanette.
